In order to prepare for the reading part of this English language exam, you should read as many English language materials as possible. In class, your tutor should look at your reading ability and check your vocabulary level. Our language instructors will offer tips and hints for reading the exam paper successfully and answering the questions well.
This part of the test is split into two parts: A short response to an e-mail or letter and then a longer essay from a choice of several questions. Due to the length of time involved with the writing exercises, a lot of the work with this will be done in your own time. Our language instructors will look at your work and point out any areas that need improving as well as looking for any errors that you make consistently.
FCE Use of English
Arguably, this is the most difficult aspect of Cambridge: English First Certificate because the focus in this part of the exam rests heavily on grammar and sentence structure. To succeed in this, you will need to have a strong knowledge of grammar in the English language. The best way to do this is by taking intensive grammar exercises both inside and outside of the classroom.
As with reading, this part of the test is something that can practised anywhere and at any time. Your Unique tutor will be encouraging you to listen as much as you can to the radio, television and the people around you. The best and only way that this part of Cambridge: First Certificate can be prepared for properly is with a native speaker instructor who knows the test and can offer advice and help along the way.
