Every twelve months, a beautiful exhibition centre in north London hosts The Global Mobility Show. It is a chance for HR personnel, relocation companies, global mobility consultants, serviced apartment companies and representatives from Unique Language Training to meet and discuss the current state of language training as well as other issues for expats. We sent one of our staff to the show to report back.
With dozens of stands from various different companies that can make relocating so much easier for expats, The Totally Expat Show is a great way to meet representatives from relocation companies and other organisations associated with the moving process. Unique was the only language training company represented at the show.
We always send a few language teachers to these type of shows as well as the usual mix of marketing staff and senior management. It gives them the opportunity to meet HR and global mobility employees who they would not normally meet. We are an inclusive organisation at Unique and we like our members of staff to understand how everybody does their jobs.
Networking is socialising in a business context. It provides people with the chance to share ideas and learn about different organisations, as well as potentially leading to sales of course.
There are many serviced apartment agencies represented at the show, and as we have many students staying in London to learn with Unique from overseas, it helps to build strong relationships with these agencies. This allows us to know that our students will be in safe and comfortable places when they are in London.
Some relocation companies rely on Unique Languages for the provision of in-company language training for employees and their families. It is vital that we build strong relationships with these companies as we aim to make sure that our language teachers are the best available and we need to know exactly what these companies are looking for.
While Unique is not currently offering translation services, it is something that we hope to do in the future. Going to shows such as this one allow us to see how translation and interpreting firms are run and what we need to do to make sure that we are the best at this.
During the day after the show, we had a discussion about what we learned from visiting. It was felt that all who visited had gained significantly from attending, having learned much about the whole relocation process and understanding some of the movers and shakers in the industry. And our favourite bit? Our new mascot Gerry from Natwest Bank. We have offered them some language training in return.
Unique Language Training runs dedicated language courses for professionals in London, on-line and throughout the world. For further information, please telephone 020 3566 0145, e-mail us or fill in the form on this screen.
